Zone 7 to Host Public Meetings on Flood Management Plan

Community invited to participate and provide input

News Release

LIVERMORE, Calif. (Jan. 6, 2026) – Changes in climate, land use and population increases have led to
higher potential flooding within the Zone 7 Water Agency (Zone 7) Tri-Valley area. In any given year, there is a
risk that flows in Zone 7’s flood protection system could overtop, posing potential impacts to people and
property. To address current and future flood risks within the 37-mile network of streams and flood
channels that protect the Tri-Valley community, Zone 7 is developing a comprehensive Flood Management
Plan (FMP). This high-level strategy aims to improve flood protection and reduce flood risks for our
communities and the environment.

How does the FMP benefit my community?

  • Reduced flood risk for people, property and critical facilities
  • Better understanding of current and future flood risk
  • Improved flood protection system
  • A financially sustainable blueprint for flood management

FMP, including its primary objectives to reduce public safety and economic impacts risk, as well as
minimize lifecycle costs to Zone 7 and our customers. Each meeting will be an open house format where
attendees can view displays, talk with team members and provide input on the FMP.

The community’s active participation and insights are invaluable in shaping the direction of the FMP and
future flood risk management.
